Relax, it’s Just Sex…the sequel?
One of the slightly more interesting gay films to come out of the late 90’s was this Jennifer Tilly flick: Relax, It’s Just Sex. It was notable for, among other things: not having an exclusively gay cast (nor all about gay people), the people who were gay were life-affirming and not pitiable, pathetic stock characters, and there’s a queer character who ends up straight (and her parents are upset she does this!), and a queer-bashing scene that turns around when a straight guy gets cornered and fucked by one of the gay men (hot and really messed up, all at the same time, kinda’ like real life).
Did we mention it was a comedy? Maybe more dramedy…
Anyway, now that the Miami Gay and Lesbian Film Festival is over, they posted some video of Jennifer Tilly (looking fabulous, and NOT speaking in her trademark breathy, squeaky, Marilyn-Monroe-like voice), on the roof of a hotel partying with the director of the movie, and mentioning that a sequel is in the works with most (if not all) of the regular cast returning, and following up with what happened about a decade later.
