AT LAST: The Hate Crimes Bill is Headed to Obama’s Desk!
More than 7,000 hate crimes are committed each year in the USA according to the Matthew Shepard Foundation.
After more than a decade of revamped and high-pressure efforts to draft AND pass a hate crimes bill, to include: sexual orientation, gender, gender identity and disability - it’s finally on its way to the desk of a President who will sign it.
From a Senate vote of 68 to 29, the bill was overwhelmingly approved, and it is the FIRST FEDERAL civil rights bill for GLBT people!
The Human Rights Council launched a website to celebrate the victory: Love Conquers Hate.
Can we get an AMEN?!
