If it’s the latter, and you are intersex, please direct your hate mail to Lady Gaga’s site, and inform her about what you thought was a careless act. However, before you do, consider what might very well happen down the road if: the topic is broached in a public interview and she’s read comments like yours and subsequently considers she has no support from her community, thus retreating with a prepared statement: it’s flat out false. Lady Gaga sans the stage, hair, makeup, lighting, music, and cameras is a human being to her family and friends, but onstage, she exists as her public persona (however manufactured), and as a public persona (something she desired with all her will and talent, with full and complete adult understanding of what that entailed) she is fair game for all.

As far as science has determined, NO ONE has full sets of both reproductive organs.

Some have a mix of the two, such as one testicle and two ovaries, some have streak gonads which are nonfunctional, and some don’t have any gonads.

There is no such thing as a ‘genetic male’ or ‘genetic female’ - no matter who you hear using those terms.

There are XY women who are able to give birth and be impregnated because they have ovaries and a uterus. (Kallman’s Syndrome) In this condition, the so-called ‘male hormones’ aren’t secreted in the womb from their gonads, so they develop basically just like every other girl.

With XY women who cannot have babies, it’s usually due to a condition called Androgen Insensitivity Syndrome. This is when an XY baby has a mutation on a gene inherited from the mother on the X chromosome, and they are fully or partially insensitive to androgens, though the body is sensitive to the hormones which inhibit the development of the uterus and other ‘female’ reproductive anatomy.

There are men and women with XXY Chromosomes (Klinefelter’s Syndrome)

There are men with two XX Chromosomes.

There are men with XYY Chromosomes, etc.

I myself, am a woman with XY chromosomes - the condition known as Partial Androgen Insensitivity. I was born with something like a mix between the two most common forms of reproductive anatomy. No uterus, enlarged clitorus (none of your business what the size is ), and a vaginal canal.

I was raised as male, and failed to develop as one during adolescence, but I’m currently stuck being legally defined as male, even though I am not.

That way you might come to the understanding that not all intersex are gay, or queer, or TG. That you are free to discuss your own genitals to your hearts content. It ignorant and insensitive to discuss other people’s in this way.

OII is far and away the worlds largest grass-roots intersex organization. A conversation such as the gay/queer community are about Lady Ga Ga wouldn’t take place on the OII boards.

1.) In one of our earlier audio podcasts we directly discussed this topic, and one of our very own troupe members is HIV positive, and is not afraid to say so. This was over a year ago. If/When that happens, said person should then capitalize on the strength of that movement and do the kind of good that only their worldwide fame can accomplish.

Gay couples have work-arounds to inheritance laws in the USA, such as adopting one another. We know that sounds kinda’ weird, but it is a legal way for one partner to be the “parent” to whom they can bestow their estate - without having to go through further legal hurdles. However, this is often contested on the grounds that when one adopted the other, they were both adults and did not require one to be their guardian - rendering it invalid. In many states, they have gone out of their way to make this option illegal. Yes, one can leave a will to bestow to your partner, however, it too is often contested where/when gay couples have amassed a certain amount of wealth/property. The deceased’s partner’s family can just come in and take it all. This happened to famed makeup artist Keviyn Aucoin. He married his partner in a ceremony on the beach and from there on referred to him as “husband.” When Aucoin died, his family came out of the woodwork, seeking the fruits of his fame and fortune. His family came in and quite literally kicked his partner of several years out onto the street. The family occupied their NYC flat and cabin outside the city, and tried to take over Aucoin’s makeup business. It is now in the trust of his first lover, to whom he did not marry. What became of his partner at the time of his death is not known to us at this time. However, at the time of Aucoin’s death, NYC had not yet allowed Domestic Partnerships, or as they do now, recognize out-of-state marriages. Though, ironically, getting married in NY state is still illegal in and of itself. Credit the “progress” NYC has undergone to its first African-American (and also blind) Governor (David A. Paterson), once the previous one resigned after reports of an affair with a stripper (he was married at the time). Paterson issued the decree into law, as one of his first acts of office. It has not been contested by the voters of NY state, unlike CA and its heinous Proposition 8 debacle - which goes before the Supreme Court on March 5th for another hearing.

I don’t understand. So gay couples in America or certain states can’t leave their estates to their partners? Or the inheritance tax is based on the legal relation? We’re spoiled over here in comparison on this. I’m sorry you all are still having to fight for equal rights. I know a few who decided to emigrate north to get equal rights and then get on with their lives from there. Do you think America federally will ever change on this?
