He has been married twice, and it was not until his beloved wife passed away in March of 2009, that he decided to move forward. He had not done the operation sooner because he claims he was unaware that it was possible to transition.

The National Center for Transgender Equality claims the statistic of roughly 700,000 individuals in the USA whom identify as Transgendered. The American Psychological Association, using older data from the late 70s, estimates about 1 in 10,000 male to female Trans individuals, and about 1 in 30,000 for female to male. However, those numbers might be low because people are quite secretive about this particular identity, and rightfully so — they could lose everything in their lives and they have no laws to protect them in most places. These numbers do not include transvestites, nor cross dressers, the former identifying as GLBT and the latter as heterosexual.

Oddly, when he goes out with his friends, he still dresses as male - as his friends do not like to talk about it.

Yet, he has no regrets. He feels that he was “different” since age 5, and an eyewitness after he awoke form surgery claimed his first words were: Now I’m the lady I always knew I was.

If E.N.D.A. passes, goodness and logic/reason willing, Congress needs to step in and inform the public and corporations how these new laws protect Trans individuals. Let’s cut the bull and get to the point that needs clarification because it’s the one and only thing that is going to create a barrier in the workplace: the bathroom/lavatory/loo/toilet/facilities - whatever you want to call it.

Simply put: if Congress doesn’t spell out in legislation the requirement for gender neutral restroom facilities, of course ones with individual stall doors that lock, then it will be up to the company on how those facilities are integrated…or not. Let’s face it, it’s going to be the brave co-worker who shares the facilities with a Trans individual, not to mention the Trans person themselves, because they’re going to bear the brunt of a lot of unnecessary grief.

Right off the bat, you can see one Trans’ persons rights as being twisted into some ridiculous lawsuit on sexual harassment - if no gender neutral facilities are made mandatory. It would simply be impossible to police a law, allowing those of opposite gender identity, to use the restroom facilities for the body in which their minds and souls reside. Are we going to stop everyone at the bathroom and ask for gender identity forms? We didn’t think so either…

If it’s going to be left up to the companies/corporations, then they run the risk of hostile/aggressive office (and out of office) behavior, but perhaps worst of all, is that the quality of tolerance and/or respect will vary wildly from one company to another. That is not equal justice. It would be as if Congress mandated handicap accessible ramps and parking spots, but didn’t tell anyone how big they needed to be at the very least, in order to accommodate those of various abilities. Of course there are standards, and Congress needs to set the bar.

Yes, both parents were accused, one arrested, the other placed in a squad car, and their special needs children detained by Wal-Mart employees in a “security room.” It was reported they made disparaging remarks about their parents, and threatened them so horribly, that they have severely traumatized the children to the point of illness.

After a review of the security cameras saw no wrongdoing, they were released. Instead of an apology from the staff, the couple were told they were “banned for life” from the chain due their being “uncooperative.”

To add insult to injury, Wal - Mart is now suing the couple for ten times the price of the items, at $158.40, they claimed they “shoplifted.” The letter states the matter will be dropped if this ‘debt’ is paid.

Wal - Mart is no stranger to GLBT discrimination. Let’s not forget that their CEO, Mike Duke, was listed as a signer of the The Anti-Gay Adoption and Foster Care Petition.

Why did the meeting for E.N.D.A. (Employment Non Discrimination Act) look like this at the Senate?

Well, depends on whom you ask. During the meetings at the House, every spectrum of the GLBT community was represented by personal stories told by the people who lived through employment discrimination, imploring as to why ENDA needed to pass and become law.

The nearly empty chamber in the photo above seems to paint a very grim picture indeed. What one needs to know is that most of the Senate is prepared to pass ENDA, as they’re mostly Democrats, but they need to pass a filibuster. So, rather than bring about a show with emotional tugging and pulling, it would seem this meeting was orchestrated to be merely about business objections and religious freedom. For example, how hiring a GLBT employee might affect the costs of small businesses, and whether or not a church would be forced to hire someone they might find religiously offensive.

While we believe the argument about small businesses is something easily remedied with some kind of tax incentive, the issue with the churches should be moot. They should not have to hire a GLBT person if they do not wish, so long as they STOP LOBBYING WITH THEIR TAX EXEMPT STATUS. Otherwise, if they insist on molding legislation, then they should pay taxes, and THEN be honestly concerned they might have to hire a GLBT individual.

That’s just our $0.02.

Seeing as how Gov. Paterson’s approval ratings are in the toilet, this might be a desperate move to acquire the kind of support he will need when he is up for election (remember he was not voted into office, he took over after Gov. Spitzer resigned over the whole prostitution scandal).

To his credit, he has treaded this area before when he alone signed a bill into law, allowing for New York state to recognize out-of-state marriages done in Massachusetts or (previously) Maine for example. However, inheriting the mess that Spitzer left wasn’t easy, and to his credit again, it’s not all his fault - but there are legitimate voices of dissent.

Oddly, they expanded the use of medical marijuana, but at the same time, shot down higher taxes. We suggest doing a two-fer: legalize cannabis and tax it.

Incidentally, Bob McDonnell is not the governor-elect of Virginia, and Mr. Chris Christie is now the governor-elect of New Jersey.

Enjoy it while you can, Mr. President, as 2010 places the majority (filibuster-proof) we have in the House at stake, a third of the Senate, and 37 other governor’s mansions are up for grabs. If you are going to implement change, our advice is not to wait…

Let’s see, that’s two states (CA & ME) where the voters’ closed minds repealed equality. We see it harder for the President to take a political gamble on our side for much longer. Indeed, we now see the Supreme Court shying away from hearing this, if at all - perhaps throwing the issue back to the individual states.

So, they may not hate you to your face, but just don’t expect them to be friendly the second one of your toes leaves the compound of your resort.

We’d recommend a boycott of any travel to Jamaica from now on, because there are nicer places to go. You can visit Puerto Rico without the need for a passport, and/or the U.S. Virgin Islands — if you REALLY want a Caribbean vacation. Plus, who wants to go on vacation, and experience racism? Trust us, Jamaicans HATE anyone who is remotely Caucasian, that includes Hispanics. If you’re not Black, you’re simply not welcome to be anywhere - save at your hotel. While this is a broad, general statement, because we’re sure there are some open-minded, nice people who are not bloody racists and/or homophobes, they are VERY few and far between.

Learn to sit boys, the toilet is not a urinal!

Here is a more explicit tutorial on how to cover one’s eyebrows, particularly if you have dark hair and fair skin — a difficult thing to do right.

You will need: Spirit Gum (preferably the water-soluble version!), white concealer stick and/or makeup, Kryolan plastic for eyebrows if you’re going to be in drag a long time and/or sweating like crazy, and a foundation stick close to your skin tone (no, it doesn’t have to be the same one as your whole face - but close! -but if you do use the same one, get a different stick or makeup lid for just your brows). Last, but not least, translucent powder.

This tutorial does not show you how to paint your brows, because again, it depends on the look you’re going after…though, we strongly suggest that instead of using a pencil (only because unless you are REALLY good at it, you will have to re-cover your brows), you utilize an angled brush, and powder the color of the brow you wish to create.

Here is some of the text from the bill:

The Bill, entitled the Anti-Homosexuality Bill 2009, also states that anyone who commits the offence of homosexuality will be liable to life imprisonment.

This was already the case under the current Penal Code Act.

However, it gives a broader definition of the offence of homosexuality.

A person charged with the offence will have to undergo a mandatory medical examination to ascertain his or her HIV status.

The bill further states that anybody who “attempts to commit the offence” is liable to imprisonment for seven years.

“The same applies to anybody who “aids, abets, counsels or procures another to engage in acts of homosexuality” or anybody who keeps a house or room for the purpose of homosexuality.

The bill also proposes stiff sentences for people promoting homosexuality.

They risk a fine of sh100m or prison sentences of five to seven years.

This applies to people who produce, publish or distribute pornographic material for purposes of promoting homosexuality, fund or sponsor homosexuality.

Where the offender is a business or NGO, its certificate of registration will be cancelled and the director will be liable to seven years in prison.

Failure to disclose the offence within 24 hours of knowledge makes somebody liable to a maximum sh5m fine or imprisonment of up to three years.

This legislation further recognizes the fact that same sex attraction is not an innate and immutable characteristic and that people who experience this mental disorder can and have changed to a heterosexual orientation.  It also recognizes that because homosexuals are not born that way, but develop this disorder based on experiences and environmental conditions, it is preventable, especially among young people who are most vulnerable to recruitment into the homosexual lifestyle.

The bad word of mouth had to do with the film’s alien characters, the Na’vi, and their biologically engineered copies by humans; through which they project their consciousness so that the copies can move about the planet to study it and its inhabitants without freaking them out. Of course, it’s not that simple: the planet has a valuable resource that humans wish to exploit at the cost of the health of the planet. Sound like a “message” film warning about global warming and the atrocities humans execute on their own planet for their selfish gain? Of course, there is also the Marine, played by Sam Worthington (the guy who played The Terminator with a human heart in the first of the new trilogy), as a parapalegic. When allowed to exist as a Na’vi, he now gains full ambulatory abilities, along with a Na’vi love interest. Will he remain true to the cause of preserving the planet in the name of the botanist, played by Sigourney Weaver (looking completely ageless), so that he can remain with his love interest? Or, will he resort to his Marine training and assist in the hostile, genocidal extermination of the entire planet so that the humans may strip it of its precious resources without further trouble? Guess you’ll have to wait and see!

Iraqi militias infiltrate internet gay chatrooms to hunt their quarry – and hundreds are feared to be victims

Sitting on the floor, wearing traditional Islamic clothes and holding an old notebook, Abu Hamizi, 22, spends at least six hours a day searching internet chatrooms linked to gay websites. He is not looking for new friends, but for victims.

“It is the easiest way to find those people who are destroying Islam and who want to dirty the reputation we took centuries to build up,” he said. When he finds them, Hamizi arranges for them to be attacked and sometimes killed.

Hamizi, a computer science graduate, is at the cutting edge of a new wave of violence against gay men in Iraq. Made up of hardline extremists, Hamizi’s group and others like it are believed to be responsible for the deaths of more than 130 gay Iraqi men since the beginning of the year alone.

The deputy leader of the group, which is based in Baghdad , explained its campaign using a stream of homophobic invective. “Animals deserve more pity than the dirty people who practise such sexual depraved acts,” he told the Observer. “We make sure they know why they are being held and give them the chance to ask God’s forgiveness before they are killed.”

The violence against Iraqi gays is a key test of the government’s ability to protect vulnerable minority groups after the Americans have gone.

Dr Toby Dodge, of London University ’s Queen Mary College , believes that the violence may be a consequence of the success of the government of Nouri al-Maliki. “Militia groups whose raison d’être was security in their communities are seeing that function now fulfilled by the police. So their focus has shifted to the moral and cultural sphere, reverting to classic Islamist tactics of policing moral boundaries,” Dodge said.

Homosexuality was not criminalised under Saddam Hussein – indeed Iraq in the 1960s and 1970s was known for its relatively liberated gay scene. Violence against gays started in the aftermath of the invasion in 2003. Since 2004, according to Ali Hali, chairman of the Iraqi LGBT (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender) group, a London-based human-rights group, a total of 680 have died in Iraq , with at least 70 of those in the past five months. The group believes the figures may be higher, as most cases involving married men are not reported. Seven victims were women. According to Hali , Iraq has become “the worst place for homosexuals on Earth”.

The killings are brutal, with victims ritually tortured. Azhar al-Saeed’s son was one. “He didn’t follow what Islamic doctrine tells but he was a good son,” she said. “Three days after his kidnapping, I found a note on my door with blood spread over it and a message saying it was my son’s purified blood and telling me where to find his body.”

She went with police to find her son’s remains. “We found his body with signs of torture, his anus filled with glue and without his genitals,” she said. “I will carry this image with me until my dying day.”

Police officers interviewed by the Observer said the killings were not aimed at gays but were isolated remnants of the sectarian violence that racked the country between 2005 and 2006. Hamizi’s group, however, boasts that two people a day are chosen to be “investigated” in Baghdad . The group claims that local tribes are involved in homophobic attacks, choosing members to hunt down the victims. In some areas, a list of names is posted at restaurants and food shops.

The roommate of Haydar, 26, was kidnapped and killed three months ago in Baghdad . After Haydar contacted the last person his friend had been chatting with on the net, he found a letter on his front door alerting him “about the dangers of behaving against Islamic rules”. Haydar plans to flee to Amman , the Jordanian capital. “I have… to run away before I suffer the same fate,” he said.

According to Human Rights Watch, the Shia militia known as the Mahdi army may be among the militants implicated in the violence, particularly in the northern part of Baghdad known as Sadr City . There are reports that Mahdi army militias are harassing young men simply for wearing “western fashions”.

A Ministry of Interior spokesperson, Abdul-Karim Khalaf, denied allegations of police collaboration. “The Iraqi police exists to protect all Iraqis, whatever their sexual persuasion,” he said.

Hashim, another victim of violence by extremists, was attacked on Abu Nawas Street . Famous for its restaurants and bars, the street has become a symbol of the relative progress made in Baghdad . But it was where Hashim was set on by four men, had a finger cut off and was badly beaten. His assailants left a note warning that he had one month to marry and have “a traditional life” or die.

“Since that day I have not left my home. I’m too scared and don’t have money to run away,” Hashim said.

Anyway, here’s Jon Stewart of The Daily Show, covering the 75,000 strong Gay Equality March on Washington, D.C. - and how the media pretty much ignored it, and us.

The bill he signed, SB 54, recognizes same-sex marriages as “unions” if they were performed in California during the far-too-brief period that the California Supreme Court said that same-sex marriages were a legal right and to deny them was unconstitutional. The end date for the recognition of these “unions” is the day that Prop 8 was passed into law. Oddly, out-of-state marriages during that same time period, are to be recognized in the state as well.

So, all we want to fucking know is, if he can do THIS, why not just reverse the Prop 8 ban with the stroke of a pen? He originally said he would not go against the state Supreme Court when they allowed same-sex marriages. When Prop 8 was upheld by the chickenshit  Supreme Court of California, taking a step back, the Governor again affirmed he would abide by the rule of law. But now, he is not only going against the “will of the people” by recognizing the “unions,” but sending mixed signals about where the ultimate legislative power should reside: the Supreme Court, the Voters, or the Governor of the state of California?

It’s tough to say in the present, but, consider the American dollar now devalued around the world to that of America’s much maligned neighbor to the South: Mexico.

Hush money to a predatory, money lusting parent? Or, the righteous parent who wants to see justice served for their child, and work with the courts to ensure that such a person never again harms another child? We’d pose the same question to everyone who sued him, for the same thing after that, and lost…

This comes from “The Neverland Five” wrongful termination lawsuit the sickos filed against him and five others at Neverland in January 1996. That’s where five disgraced former Neverland employees (who would later become part of the 2005 criminal trial and fail miserably in their testimony) tried to extort millions from him after he fired their @sses for theft, violating work agreements, and selling made-up stories about him (along with expensive artifacts they had stolen from Neverland) to the tabloids after the Chandler case broke. These five represent some of the worst of the worst, the sleaziest of the sleaziest that have ever come into Michael’s circle, and are the reason why Mesereau had to bring in three witnesses to flat-out deny they had ever been sexually assaulted just because of their salacious claims.

If anyone is wondering, in March 1997 Michael was victorious in both this lawsuit and the countersuit he filed against them. He was also awarded upwards of $2,000,000 because it was determined they had acted in malice–they never did pay the amount owed.

If one were to get an erection, ZAP!, an electrical charge on your genitals…which leaves burns…

Needless to say, most do not complete this type of program, though underage kids fall victim, as they have no legal recourse, and are usually taken by surprise. Which we believe falls under kidnapping and false imprisonment amongst other charges.

Here they are, talking about gays protesting other gays on Federal policies involving legislation to be introduced by Obama’s administration — if they ever fucking get around to us at all.

INJUSTICE HAS BEEN SERVED AGAIN IN SAN DIEGO

Jovan’s next hearing two hearings are set for October 8th at 8:30am in Department 30 and October 13th at 8:15am in Department 11.

Tonight an innocent man still sits behind bars without any conviction or legitimate reason for incarceration simply after an accusation of providing medicine to a legitimate member of a collective who was a valid patient.

This morning the “Competency Hearing” of Jovan Jackson was held in Department 53 in front of Judge McGuire and a courtroom filled with supporters. The last time Jovan went to court, he never made it out. Although never once late for a court appearance and for simply requesting to represent himself, Jovan was ordered by the judge to be incarcerated to solitary confinement pending a competency examination. As unbelievable and ludicrous as this may sound, it is not an exaggeration. After three days in solitary confinement the guards in jail themselves released Jovan from solitary not understanding why a competent and sane man would be ordered to such extreme punishment. The rest of the time Jovan has spent with the general population even after a doctor deemed him competent.

This morning after being brought into the courtroom, Jovan was surrounded by three bailiffs who all stood no further than a foot away from Jovan ensuring that any breathing, thinking, or otherwise room would not be available.

The reason Jovan was initially incarcerated was that the judge wanted him to be examined for competency. He was deemed competent by a court ordered and selected physician days ago. This means he was supposed to be released today.

The prosecuting District Attorney Chris Lindbergh sat quietly grinning the entire proceeding refusing to make eye contact with anyone in the crowd or with Jovan. After respectfully addressing the court and again requesting to represent himself, the judge refused to hear Jovan’s motion and passed it over to another judge to deal with next week leaving Jovan again in Jail.

As soon as Jovan was removed from the courtroom and the crowd was cleared out after which DA Lindbergh spent at least the next 15 minutes chit chatting and laughing it up with the judge in the courtroom ensuring everyone could see him doing it. The arrogance and disregard for justice was very blatant and hard to watch.

Jovan has served our country honorably in the Navy for over eight years, is highly decorated, and is an upstanding and respected member of the San Diego community which was displayed today by the number of supporters in court. He was a part of a legitimate, non-profit, closed circuit, medical cannabis collective.

In August of last year, as a part of Bonnie Dumanis’ Operation Green Rx, Detective Scott Henderson (aka Jamie Conlan in picture below) of the San Diego Police department went to a local physician lied about his symptoms, condition, and obtained a recommendation for medical cannabis. After coming to the collective, Henderson requested to join and completed all the appropriate paperwork. After calling the doctor to verify the legitimacy of Henderson’s medical cannabis recommendation, Jovan allowed him to join the collective. Months later he was arrested and charged with felonies.

Jovan has done nothing wrong and tonight sits in jail because of the hate driven prosecution tactics that have no human interest in mind.

His next hearing is a Readiness Hearing currently set for October 8th at 8:30am in Department 30. The Preliminary hearing is currently set for October 13th at 8:15am in Department 11. Please come out and support Jovan in court. This injustice must end! The continued bias driven prosecution of legitimate medical cannabis patients must stop.

If you saw at least the first 10 minutes of X-Men 3, then you are familiar with their work. In those opening minutes, you saw both Patrick Stewart & Ian McKellan, both actors well into their 70s, looking mid-40-ish. This was not done with makeup effects, but rather, digital cosmetic enhancement that is a trade secret. Usually, their work is not made public, as it’s written into the contracts of really big, aging stars who need a few more years worth of life on the shelf. Hmmm…Meryl Streep in The Devil Wears Prada?

Lastly, in not unrelated news, Kathy Griffin’s book: Official Book Club Selection has dropped. If you saw her on Larry King (both as a guest, and guest HOST) you know she’s still got it going strong…work it, diva.

Although he has other tour dates set, it’s a step in the right direction, and a decent acknowledgment from Live Nation that they could lose a MASSIVE fan base. Again, let’s reference Madonna - who herself got burned this week - for speaking out against the discrimination of the Roma people (pejoratively referred to as “gypsies”), and homosexuality in former communist, Eastern Europe [specifically Bucharest, Romania] - at the tail end of her “Sticky & Sweet Tour.”

Many babies who are born hermaphrodites/intersex, especially those with female reproductive organs (internally functional ovaries, uterus, et al…), have their small penis removed at birth with a simple surgery. The converse is also true. It gets a lot more complex than that as they age into puberty and adulthood, especially if they have not had any surgery, as society likes labels and for everyone to conform to the gender binary of either male or female. We always thought Lady Gaga was a super-drag-queen! Joking aside, intersex individuals tend to emulate whichever societal labels of appearance for that part of their gender which tends to be dominant. If such is the case with Lady Gaga, her penis is essentially a very large clitoris! Double the pleasure, and double the fun.

Now, this may all be some fantastic publicity stunt for her queer fans (hey, we’re writing about it…), but if she is truly a hermaphrodite, than she’d be paving the way, considerably, for those who are the “middle sex.”

OK, we hear you saying, sounds and smells like bullshit — where’s the beef, er, truth?

Update 2: Apparently all those commenting didn’t bother to read the headline: PUBLICITY STUNT or GENUINE HERMAPHRODITE? Again, if you’d bothered to read the rest, you’d understand that we DO NOT GIVE A SHIT what’s under her dress. Nor do we give a fuck what her chromosomal combination is. All we’re saying is: if she IS a geunine intersex person, then it would be most interesting for her to step forward and talk about it; not that she HAS to. If she did, it would be so that people can become educated, and understand that sexuality and everything related to it, is a lot more fluid and varied than just the standard gender binary. All the rest of the comments from those being sent to march from OII can kiss our queer ass. At least we’re trying to help people by bringing it in for discussion, albeit perhaps not in the way you would like; but it’s rarely that way, is it? Everytime we make an error is no reason to crucify us, we’re human too.

Update 3: Look, this video is VIRAL - even if we took it down, millions have already seen it, and millions more will. Let us be clear - we did not shoot this, nor are we the owners of the video. As we mentioned, and indeed, as some of you have commented: intersex people tend to emulate the socially accepted constructs of gender binary. We want to thank you for educating us on some of the mistakes we made about the biology of intersex people – we learn too. Yet, removing the video will have ZERO impact on the matter. Similarly, us posting or pulling the video has ZERO impact on placing intersex people in danger, any more than it has on placing our fellow drag queens in danger. If anything, we have placed ourselves “out there” as targets, because we do not hide where we perform our gigs, nor who we are as individuals. We don’t see a site dedicated and promoted to the documentation of intersex people performing and doing crazy shit – if there is, please let us know.

Furthermore, the persona known as Lady Gaga was VERY AWARE that:

1.) She wasn’t wearing any panties.

2.) That cameras (as they have been the last two years) were ALL AROUND HER, and the cutaway to the side after she adjusts her dress, very plainly shows the cameraman in front of her line of sight.

If this were a case of “Hey, that asshole, perv camera-man took a shot UP my dress,” we’d totally understand her privacy was violated and pull the plug. Such was not the case, she was onstage performing live, which is why we believe either that this was a staged stunt, to astounding effect, or she really is intersex and doesn’t give a shit.

If it’s the latter, and you are intersex, please direct your hate mail to Lady Gaga’s site, and inform her about what you thought was a careless act. However, before you do, consider what might very well happen down the road if: the topic is broached in a public interview and she’s read comments like yours and subsequently considers she has no support from her community, thus retreating with a prepared statement: it’s flat out false. At present, that is the official statement from her publicist. Gee, we wonder why that is?

This site is about LGBTQ news and multimedia, our site with plain text would cease to be of interest to even our own community, let alone anyone seeking to understand or be educated. Yet, we do not promote this site as anything other than entertainment, if you want scientific accuracy and political correctness: read a textbook. Also, we’re not commenting on intersex people in a pejorative way. We thought WHAT(ever this really is)/HOW this was done was outrageous, and like the tabloid we are at times, it got its 15 seconds. If you don’t want to give it more attention, simply do what you’ve been doing all along: be silent. However, drag queens have a pretty proud tradition of starting movements for the community as a whole, and some queens ARE intersex. You may not always agree with us, and it is your right to do so, but not to tell us what to do. Nor do we impose (though we may strongly and loudly suggest/oppose) how others should behave, save for treating other human beings as human beings.

Lastly, and most importantly, Lady Gaga sans the stage, hair, makeup, lighting, music, and cameras is a human being to her family and friends, but onstage/music videos/interviews, she exists as her public persona (however manufactured), and as a public persona (something she desired and made happen with all her will and talent, with full and complete adult understanding of what that entailed) she is fair game for all.

These seem to get so much attention…
