Why? Welllllll….where to start! Here is a breakdown of the D.O.M.A. Brief (Defense of Marriage Act, yes, we roll our eyes too on that one). Forgive our language, but the further down we go in repeating this stuff online, the angrier, and angrier we get…

1.) Here is the request by the President to DISMISS a motion to hear our marriage case in CA:

2.) In that brief, GLBT people are compared to incestuous persons and pedophiles:

“The courts have followed this principle, moreover, in relation to the validity of marriages performed in other States. Both the First and Second Restatements of Conflict of Laws recognize that State courts may refuse to give effect to a marriage, or to certain incidents of a marriage, that contravene the forum State’s policy. See Restatement (First) of Conflict of Laws § 134; Restatement (Second) of Conflict of Laws § 284.5 And the courts have widely held that certain marriages performed elsewhere need not be given effect, because they conflicted with the public policy of the forum. See, e.g., Catalano v. Catalano, 170 A.2d 726, 728-29 (Conn. 1961) (marriage of uncle to niece, “though valid in Italy under its laws, was not valid in Connecticut because it contravened the public policy of th[at] state”); Wilkins v. Zelichowski, 140 A.2d 65, 67-68 (N.J. 1958) (marriage of 16-year-old female held invalid in New Jersey, regardless of validity in Indiana where performed, in light of N.J. policy reflected in statute permitting adult female to secure annulment of her underage marriage); In re Mortenson’s Estate, 316 P.2d 1106 (Ariz. 1957) (marriage of first cousins held invalid in Arizona, though lawfully performed in New Mexico, given Arizona policy reflected in statute declaring such marriages “prohibited and void”)…The fact that States have long had the authority to decline to give effect to marriages performed in other States based on the forum State’s public policy strongly supports the constitutionality of Congress’s exercise of its authority in DOMA.”

Then they say: next thing you know we’ll have to acknowledge plural marriages and bestiality, and the world will fall to pieces. Last time we fucking checked, polygamy was still being practiced since, oh, BEFORE the concept of marriage even existed amongst us primates, and people still fuck animals — it’s mentioned in the Bible and we’ve been unfortunate enough to open emails that had them as a joke. Right now, it’s another pretty, picture-perfect day in San Diego. No plague of locusts, check, no blood in the rivers/ocean, check, no frogs falling from the sky, check, no sun, check, no first-borns have died en masse, check, no plague of lice, check…

3.) The Federal Government does not want to allow same sex marriage because it saves them money. Oh, yes, they went there…

“The constitutional propriety of Congress’s decision to decline to extend federal benefits immediately to newly recognized types of marriages is bolstered by Congress’s articulated interest in preserving the scarce resources of both the federal and State governments. DOMA ensures that evolving understandings of the institution of marriage at the State level do not place greater financial and administrative obligations on federal and state benefits programs. Preserving scarce government resources — and deciding to extend benefits incrementally — are well-recognized legitimate interests under rational-basis review. See Butler, 144 F.3d at 625 (”There is nothing irrational about Congress’s stated goal of conserving social security resources, and Congress can incrementally pursue that goal.”); Hassan v. Wright, 45 F.3d 1063, 1069 (7th Cir. 1995) (”[P]rotecting the fisc provides a rational basis for Congress’ line drawing in this instance.”). Congress expressly relied on these interests in enacting DOMA: Government currently provides an array of material and other benefits to married couples in an effort to promote, protect, and prefer the institution of marriage. . . . If [a State] were to permit homosexuals to marry, these marital benefits would, absent some legislative response, presumably have to be made available to homosexual couples and surviving spouses of homosexual marriages on the same terms as they are now available to opposite-sex married couples and spouses. To deny federal recognition to same-sex marriages will thus preserve scarce government resources, surely a legitimate government purpose.” (Emphasis added by us.)

4.) They claim that D.O.M.A. is Constitutional, so, we’re fucked if we want to sue.

“The constitutionality of Section 2 of DOMA is further confirmed by the second sentence of the Full Faith and Credit Clause, which expressly empowers Congress to prescribe “the Effect” to be accorded to the laws of a sister State. See U.S. Const. art. IV, § 1, cl. 2. Although the broad contours of this provision have not been conclusively established, the power exercised by Congress in enacting DOMA clearly conforms to any conceivable construction of the effects provision….

Under this view, Congress obviously acted within its plenary effects power in enacting Section 2 of DOMA. If the Constitution itself does not declare “the effect” of the law of “one state in another state,” McElmoyle, 38 U.S. (13 Pet.) at 325, but instead leaves that “power in congress,” Mills, 11 U.S. (7 Cranch) at 485, then Congress clearly had the authority in DOMA to declare that no State is “required to give effect” to the same-sex marriage laws of other States. 28 U.S.C. § 1738C.”

5.) The Feds also claim that D.O.M.A. meets Equal Protection and Due Process principles ::coughbullshitcough::.

“DOMA Is Consistent with Equal Protection and Due Process Principles Plaintiffs further allege that DOMA violates their rights under the Due Process Clause of the Fifth Amendment, including its equal protection component. DOMA, however, merely preserves for each State the authority to follow its own law and policy with respect to same-sex marriage for purposes of State law. And it maintains the status quo of federal policy, preserving a longstanding federal policy of promoting traditional marriages, by clarifying that the terms “marriage” and “spouse,” for purposes of federal law, refer to marriage between a man and a woman, and do not encompass relationships of any other kind within their ambit. Thus, because DOMA does not make a suspect classification or implicate a right that has been recognized as fundamental, it is necessarily subject to rational-basis scrutiny, see National Ass’n for Advancement of Psychoanalysis v. California Bd. of Psychology, 228 F.3d 1043, 1049 (9th Cir. 2000), which it satisfies.”

6.) GLBT people have no right to marriage, period.

“Plaintiffs are married, and their challenge to the federal Defense of Marriage Act (”DOMA”) poses a different set of questions: whether by virtue of their marital status they are constitutionally entitled to acknowledgment of their union by States that do not recognize same-sex marriage, and whether they are similarly entitled to certain federal benefits. Under the law binding on this Court, the answer to these questions must be no. (”Under the law binding this court,” allows them to weasel out - saying that they have to go by the letter of the law, not interpret it. Also, since the laws are binding and CANNOT BE CHALLENGED as mentioned above, this will not change.)”

7.) “DOMA reflects a cautiously limited response to society’s still-evolving understanding of the institution of marriage.”

8.) No Federal support to allow “right to travel.”

“On the merits, plaintiffs’ claims that DOMA violates the Full Faith and Credit Clause and their “right to travel” both fail as a matter of law. In allowing each State to withhold its recognition of same-sex marriages performed in other jurisdictions, Congress was merely confirming longstanding conflict-of-laws principles in a valid exercise of its express power to settle such questions under the Full Faith and Credit Clause. That Clause ensures that each State retains the authority to decline to apply another State’s law when it conflicts with its own public policies. DOMA is fully consistent with that constitutional principle, as it permits States to experiment with and maintain the exclusivity of their own legitimate public policies — such as whether that State chooses to recognize or reject same-sex marriages.”

9.) We don’t deserve the same assistance in court as other minorities, according to the Feds.

“Because DOMA does not restrict any rights that have been recognized as fundamental or rely on any suspect classifications, it need not be reviewed with heightened scrutiny. Properly understood, the right at issue in this case is not a right to marry. After all, the federal government does not, either through DOMA or any other federal statute, issue marriage licenses or determine the standards for who may or may not get married. Indeed, as noted above — and as evidenced by the fact that plaintiffs have married in California — DOMA in no way prohibits same-sex couples from marrying. Instead, the only right at issue in this case is a right to receive certain benefits on the basis of a same-sex marriage. No court has ever found such a right to federal benefits on that basis to be fundamental — in fact, all of the courts that have considered the question have rejected such a claim. (And even if the right at issue in this case were the right to same-sex marriage, current Supreme Court precedent that binds this Court does not recognize such a right under the Constitution.) Likewise, DOMA does not discriminate, or permit the States to discriminate, on the basis of a suspect classification; indeed, the Ninth Circuit has held that sexual orientation is not a suspect classification.”

10.) No (and Fox Channel LOVES to use this phrase) “activist” judge rulings. Never-fucking mind that a JUDGE’s place is not just to uphold the law, but to interpret it for JUSTICE (which is SUPPOSED TO BE BLIND).

“DOMA therefore must be analyzed under rational-basis review. Under the highly deferential rational basis standard, moreover, a court may not act as superlegislature, sitting in judgment on the wisdom or morality of a legislative policy. Instead, a legislative policy must be upheld so long as there is any reasonably conceivable set of facts that could provide a rational basis for it, including ones that the Congress itself did not advance or consider. DOMA satisfies this standard.”

11.) This is so appalling, you just have to read it:

“Likewise, Section 3 of DOMA merely clarifies that federal policy is to make certain benefits available only to those persons united in heterosexual marriage, as opposed to any other possible relationship defined by law, family, or affection. As a result, gay and lesbian individuals who unite in matrimony are denied no federal benefits to which they were entitled prior to their marriage; they remain eligible for every benefit they enjoyed beforehand. DOMA simply provides, in effect, that as a result of their same-sex marriage they will not become eligible for the set of benefits that Congress has reserved exclusively to those who are related by the bonds of heterosexual marriage. In short, then, the failure in this manner to recognize a certain subset of marriages that are recognized by a certain subset of States cannot be taken as an infringement on plaintiffs’ rights, even if same-sex marriage were accepted as a fundamental right under the Constitution.”

“EVEN IF” our forefathers had placed this in the Constitution!!! Or, interpreted another way, judges were to see no reason why people should be denied these rights under the Constitution!!!  I am preparing my Vintage Stonewall Brick to go into its Vintage Stonewall Purse, to go with some Vintage Drag Queen Ass-Kicking, Police-Car-Burning, GLBT Pride Screaming Megaphone as I head down to the offices of whatever bigoted, assholic (Penn & Teller have used it too, it’s lexicon now, bitches), fat-cat attorneys and cause another riot. Riots seem to get things done, rather than sitting on our asses and waiting for someone else to fuck us over, AGAIN. We’d rather do peaceful, non-violent demonstrations, but what’s happened since Stonewall? The answer: not much, and arguably backwards more in plenty of instances…

12.) GLBT people have no right to privacy.

“Second, the right to privacy encompasses only rights that are constitutionally fundamental, and, as noted earlier, the right to receive benefits on the basis of same-sex marriage (as well as same-sex marriage itself) has not been recognized by the courts as a fundamental right.”

13.) Congress doesn’t want to rock the boat, so, instead of taking initiative and granting Federal rights in those states that DO allow gay marriage, they will abstain completely, so as to appear “neutral.” That’s not “neutral,” THAT’S TAKING SIDES.

“Section 3 of DOMA reflects just such an approach: it maximizes democratic flexibility and self-governance under our federalist system, by adopting a policy of federal neutrality with respect to a matter that is primarily the concern of state government. Because all 50 States recognize heterosexual marriage, it was reasonable and rational for Congress to maintain its longstanding policy of fostering this traditional and universally-recognized form of marriage. At the same time, because Congress recognized both the freedom of States to expand the traditional definition, and the freedom of other States to decline to recognize this newer form of marriage, a policy of neutrality dictated that Congress not extend federal benefits to new forms of marriage recognized by some States.”

14.) This is not just GLBT oriented. The D.O.M.A. language, when taken out of bullshit legalese and into something we can ALL understand is essentially allowing state law interpretation to go so far, it could be interpreted once more to allow for miscegeny laws once more:

“[T]he public policy doctrine, which has long recognized the sovereign authority of the States to decline to give effect to the laws of a sister State at variance with their own legitimate public policy. Section 2 of DOMA merely confirms the specific applicability of that longstanding principle in the context of laws regarding same-sex marriage.”

15.) Silly faggots, D.O.M.A. wasn’t made with ANY animosity in mind:

“Under our federalist system, preserving the autonomy of state and federal governments to address evolving definitions of an age-old societal institution is itself a legitimate governmental interest. Moreover, because DOMA protected “the ability of elected officials to decide matters related to homosexuality,” including their right to recognize same-sex marriage, it plainly was not born solely as a result of animosity towards homosexuals.”

16.) Don’t compare GLBT marriage equality to that of the marriage equality of African-Americans (even if that’s with caucasians/other), because, you know, GLBT rights are not the same.

“Finally, regardless of whether same-sex marriage is appropriate policy, under current legal precedent there is no constitutional right to it, and that precedent is binding on these parties and this Court. While the Supreme Court has held that the right to marry is “fundamental,” Zablocki v. Redhail, 434 U.S. 374, 383-87, 98 S. Ct. 673, 54 L.Ed.2d 618 (1978), that right has not been held to encompass the right to marry someone of the same sex. To the contrary, in Baker v. Nelson, the Supreme Court dismissed a claim that the Constitution provides a right to same-sex marriage for lack of a “substantial federal question.” 409 U.S. 810, 93 S. Ct. 37, 34 L.Ed.2d 65 (1972) (Mem). In Baker, the Minnesota Supreme Court had rejected the contention that a State statute limiting marriage to one man and one woman violated federal due process and equal protection principles. The court found no “fundamental right” to same-sex marriage, 191 N.W.2d at 186-87, and concluded that the traditional definition of marriage effects no “invidious discrimination,” and that the definition easily withstood rational-basis review. Id. at 187.”

17.) Stupid queers, D.O.M.A. doesn’t deny you benefits, just marry a straight person and “BAM!” instant benefits!

“Plaintiffs also maintain that DOMA discriminates on the basis of sexual orientation, in violation of their right to the equal protection of the law, see Complaint, ¶ 20, but DOMA is not subject to heightened scrutiny on that basis. As an initial matter, plaintiffs misperceive the nature of the line that Congress has drawn. DOMA does not discriminate against homosexuals in the provision of federal benefits. To the contrary, discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation is prohibited in federal employment and in a wide array of federal benefits programs by law, regulation, and Executive order…. Section 3 of DOMA does not distinguish among persons of different sexual orientations, but rather it limits federal benefits to those who have entered into the traditional form of marriage.”

18.) Again, don’t compare GLBT marriage to African-American/White ones:

“Loving v. Virginia is not to the contrary. There the Supreme Court rejected a contention that the assertedly “equal application” of a statute prohibiting interracial marriage immunized the statute from strict scrutiny. 388 U.S. 1, 8, 87 S.Ct. 1817, 18 L.Ed.2d 1010 (1967). The Court had little difficulty concluding that the statute, which applied only to “interracial marriages involving white persons,” was “designed to maintain White Supremacy” and therefore unconstitutional. Id. at 11. No comparable purpose is present here, however, for DOMA does not seek in any way to advance the “supremacy” of men over women, or of women over men. Thus DOMA cannot be “traced to a . . . purpose” to discriminate against either men or women. Personnel Adm’r v. Feeney, 442 U.S. 256, 272, 99 S. Ct. 2282, 60 L.Ed.2d 870 (1979). In upholding the traditional definition of marriage, numerous courts have expressly rejected an alleged analogy to Loving.”

In addition to 14 new songs, the new CD features your 4 most recent No. 1’s, “Walk Away,” “Never,” “Love is the Look,” and your remake of Diana Ross’ classic “The Boss.” Since you write many of your songs, including winning an ASCAP Award for co-writing “One More Try,” how did you decide to take on Miss Ross and make “The Boss” and “I’m Coming Out”(a bonus iTunes track) your own? Kristine W - My idols growing up in Washington state were Donna Summer and Diana Ross. I just loved them and was always singing their songs and studying them. When I decided to start my own record label in January of 2008, I knew “The Boss” would be the perfect first single to put out. I was taking control – being “The Boss” of my music, sink or swim – and I put all I had into that single and those remixes. It was so well received globally that I was really a bit taken back by it. In addition to the singles, you independently released “The Power of Music,” and it is already a Top Five Dance Album on iTunes in its first week out. What were the biggest challenges releasing the singles and CD on your own label and being both businesswoman and artist? Kristine W - The big challenges are always the same: time and money. Like Diana, there are quite a few Kristine W drag queens. Who are your favorite drag performers? Kristine W - That is why I featured Crystal Woods in “The Boss” video. I just wanted to pay homage to Crystal and those like her that bring so much joy to us all with their performances. I have so many favorites and there are so many talented drag queens across the US that the list would be a mile long. I have so much respect for drag queens because it is so demanding if you are a true artisan. RuPaul is the godfather, of course, and always amazes me, Chad Michaels (Cher) in San Diego, who is a friend and confidant, Crystal Wood (Miss Ross) in Las Vegas, and Laritza Dumont in Orlando. I make a point to watch them when I can because they inspire me. Speaking of videos, the video for “Walk Away” is pretty hot, including the hunky male model. Did you cast him personally or did famed gay director/photographer Mike Ruiz find him? Kristine W - Mike Ruiz found Matus Valent, and yes, he is a gorgeous man. We actually still keep in touch. How do you like making videos compared to recording? Kristine W - Videos are very demanding and time consuming. Honestly, I don’t really enjoy doing them but they are a necessity and a time capsule for the music. They are a lot more work then anyone knows and usually very unglamorous. Did fighting leukemia earlier this decade and having friends with HIV/AIDS impact the themes of your songs and the many causes you support and actively promote in your blog? Kristine W - Having battled leukemia for a few years, I understand what people with AIDS go through, waiting for your blood counts, hoping that you will stay healthy and not go backwards. AIDS and diseases of all kinds are an ongoing uphill battle for humanity. I am always humbled by how fragile life really is, and yes, it is always a part of my music. Your new single, “Be Alright,” is an uplifting summer song, and the overall album is a great antidote to the current state of the world. How did “Be Alright” come about? Kristine W - I actually wrote “Be Alright” four years ago with my guitar player Tommy Cameron while I was getting better and trying to stay in remission from leukemia. My grandfather died a few months after I got out of the hospital, and I was able to see him and spend time with him before he passed. I wrote the first verse after his funeral, and I was really missing him. He was failing while I was at the UCLA hospital. A huge fear of mine was that he would die before I got back to Washington to see him. I never told him I had leukemia and told everyone else not say anything. He was too frail and that would have put him over the edge. I would call him from UCLA and tell him I was fine, and I was actually terrified. That is the only time I ever lied to him. We were very tight, and I always wondered if he knew but didn’t say anything. “Be Alright” features dance mixes by Hex Hextor, Offer Nissim, the Perry Twins, and more, including exclusive remixes on Masterbeat. Your songs are remixed by the top dance producers and DJ’s in the business. Are you ever surprised by the results? Kristine W - I am always surprised by remixes, and that is why I love them so much. It is so fun to write a song and then hand it over to someone and have them bring their own interpretation. I am currently in love with the Perry Twins’ “Los Angels and Demons” mix of “Be Alright.” That mix is so full of emotion and takes me on a journey. Your landmark show at the Hilton Las Vegas led to several “Entertainer of the Year” awards and even “Kristine W Day” on June 28th in Nevada. You just performed again in Vegas at the Miss USA pageant. As a former winner of the Miss America talent competition, did performing during this year’s Miss USA show bring back any crazy beauty queen memories? Kristine W - Oh, yes!! What do your two young kids think when they see Mom turn into the larger than life performer you become on stage – singing live, playing instruments, wearing outrageous costumes, surrounded by a team of dancers? Kristine W - They always ask when I am going to turn into Kristine W again. I am like Wonder Woman to them. One minute I am driving them to school, the next minute I am driving an audience crazy. I love it!! I am a true Gemini.

The L.A. Coroner has confirmed as of 2:26 p.m. PDT, that Michael Jackson, forever the King of Pop, has died today.

He will be often imitated but never duplicated.

What happened? Well, if you’ve been reading this blog, or read the news, you’d know by now that the White House webiste did some Spring Cleaning a while back and removed more than 2/3 of the campaign promises President Obama made to his GLBT supporters. The hate crimes bill, a.k.a. The Matthew Shepherd Act, which had no oposition, and was followed so vividly in the press, died on the floor with no support (in committee), much like the individual for which it was named.

Why can’t/won’t Obama do something about it? Simply put, he would have to end D.O.M.A. (The ridiculously named federal Defense of Marriage Act), which specifically proclaims marriage as between one man and one woman, thus denying key benefits like health insurance and retirement benefits. He could end it be Presidential decree and further down the road approved by legislators or The Supreme Court, but, alas, it would alienate too many straight voters, so, he isn’t going to touch it. Fucked again. And Again. And Again.

This was a presidential “memo,” NOT an Executive Order, and does NOT include health nor retirement benefits. The kind of “benefits” gay spouses can look forward to are things like “relocation assistance.” That’s great (sigh), but what about the other 1,600+ benefits that heterosexual people get? That’s what we voted for. That’s the person we believed in, you know, the one who was supposed to give us CHANGE, for the better. Instead, we keep getting pushed back and back, and the message we get is that our bloc of voters is not important to the administration. Instead, all we see is political cowardice, hedged bets, and broken promises.

That won’t get you a second term, dear Mr. President. We urge you to look back at one of your speeches from 2007, titled “The Fierce Urgency of Now,” and get someone to interpret that phrase for you in a queer context.

We realize you have a lot on your plate, but if you and your colleagues can make time for fundraisers that will pile your coffers for the next election round, you can make time for us. If you don’t make good on the promises you made, expect a backlash unlike any delivered by a group of disenfranchised people to a President, dealt with the same technological prowess by which you became the leader of our country.

Apparently Obama Co. doesn’t pay attention unless we yank the MONEY and SUPPORT our voting bloc gave him. With everything that’s going on with the various states, N.O.M., and such vocal members of the military on prime-time TV advancing the cause against D.A.D.T. (Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell, instituted under Bill Clinton as a compromise with the Republican majority stranglehold at the the time), he can’t AFFORD to IGNORE us.

Don’t STOP putting pressure on our own government to do right by us, it’s what we voted them into office for. If they don’t follow through - VOTE THEM OUT NEXT ELECTION.

Dear Mr. Martin:

I have read several comments posted on the Miss USA website regarding retaliatory gay rage.  I have to admit, some of the evidence that some gay men got angry when discovering the ultimate decision regarding proposition 8 is compelling, but I don’t think it’s fair enough to say that some equals the majority.  While these commentators may be looking at what appears to be a large number of members of the GLBT community engaging in a riot, they forget, they don’t know what that percentage of the GLBT community was actually there.  All things considered, it could have been a small fraction of the community who decided to retaliate without thinking rationally and engaging themselves in a peaceful and sensible protest.  I do not condone the violence that they’re using as an example for the attitude or behavior that you claim the MAJORITY of all gay men display, but I don’t think it’s fair to say that it was the majority, because they don’t know the percentages.  In fact, there are some people within the gay community itself that don’t think that gay marriage is a right or an entitlement that is either necessary or should be necessary.  Although they many be a minority within the GLBT community, they do exist.

Additionally, I’d like to point out that it’s not uncommon for people to become enraged when they feel that their rights are being violated.  Our own country’s history has COUNTLESS examples of violent rage being a means through which people express their anger as a result of oppression.  It’s NOT just gay people.  FOR EXAMPLE, if one goes back to our country’s colonial era, one can see several examples of colonials brutally assaulting, tarring (which created incredibly painful blisters of the skin and in some instances death), and feathering tax collectors for a Parliamentary increase in taxes through the Townshend Acts of the 1760’s and the Tea Act of 1773.  Speaking of the Tea Act of 1773, the Boston Tea Party, allegedly lead by Samuel Adams - would be another prime example.  I’d love to see anyone prove to me that Samuel Adams is a homosexual, and, if he or she were to, I’d be proud to call him one, as he was not only a revolutionary but also one of the forefathers of this great country.  Violent retaliation is not limited to the colonial era nor just to gay people.  During Women’s Suffrage of the mid to late 19th century, MANY women were sent to jail for acting out violently in the public arena.  Additionally, during the Civil Rights Movement of the 1960’s in MANY street across this nation in cities such as Newark, Rochester, New York City, Cleveland, Cincinnati, Detroit, and Chicago, a number of African Americans took to the streets to express their anger and frustration for being treated like second class citizens since the abolishment of slavery in 1865 with the Thirteenth Amendment to the US Constitution.  As I said before, violent action (although not personally condoned) is a means by which the politically and socially oppressed express their anger, rage, and frustration.  Although oppression cannot be used as an excuse for violence, it can (at the very least) be used as an explanation.

I’d also like to point out that I do not condone the actions of Perez Hilton as an activist or as a judge.  I think as both, he does a complete disservice to the group of people he is purported to represent. However, I’d like to point out that there was a panel of 13 judges on final night.  One judge is not going to make or break a contestant’s placement among the finalists.  Additionally, that question was reviewed and selected by the USA Pageantry governing body prior to final night.  So, as much as we can say “shame on you Perez Hilton for acting unprofessionally in the aftermath of the pageant,” I don’t think we can say “shame on you” for asking that question to Miss California. [Editor’s note: it bears repeating that Mr. Lavandeira’s (Perez Hilton’s) remarks after the show, and the slurs he used, that brought the LGBT community to a lower level when fighting this rubbish to begin with.] The question was pre-approved by USA pageantry, and it was question that could have been asked to any contestant that evening, questions were drawn from a bowl…[Editor’s note: we can only imagine Perez’s glee if, indeed, the question were nothing more than absurd coincidence.) The Californian representative happened to be the contestant to receive that question by mere coincidence.  Furthermore, this is a national pageant, and contestants are competing to become the reigning queen. The queen should be prepared to answer controversial questions with grace, dignity, poise, and honesty. There is no expectation to be anything but honest. In fact, judges usually applaud a girl for her honesty and would much rather have a girl be genuine than shell out something they think the judges would like to hear. HOWEVER, they are required to do so with respect and dignity. It isn’t the fact that she wasn’t in support of gay marriage. She’s entitled to her own opinion. It’s the fact that she 1) didn’t answer the question completely with a “yes” or “no,” [Editor’s note: more like rambling on and on, making incoherent sentences, followed with a half-hearted, impromptu apology] and 2) the manner is which she answered the question alienated a percentage of the American population, which she as Miss USA would be called to represent.

Now, one may argue that same-sex couples aren’t being oppressed or treated as second class citizens and have all the rights that they could ever want through the workplace because some companies offer domestic partner benefits.  HOWEVER, I think it’s important that those who share this opinion become a little more aware of what is the reality for many members of the GLBT community across our country. For example, within my own state of Florida, the laws protecting GLBT couples are not sufficient! Lambda Legal currently has 5 cases in Florida addressing the desire for equal civil liberties and rights: Barros v. Riggall is a case in which plaintiff filed suit against a clinic that refused fertility services to gay men; Gary Day, and C.D.G., and E.D.G., et al v. Social Security Administration, et al, is a case in which plaintiffs are seeking disability benefits for the children of a same-sex couple; Langbehn v. Jackson Memorial Hospital is a case in which plaintiff filed suit against the hospital for not permitting her to see her dying partner; and Roach v. Roach n.k.a. Silverwolf is a case in which petitioner is arguing to uphold alimony payments to a transgendered man. There are several more cases like this across the country, such as Bloem v. Montgomery County Board of Elections where plaintiff is trying to repeal a law preventing transgendered individuals from job termination because of their gender identity; Boswell v. Boswell where petitioner is trying to gain visitation rights to see his son; and Hedberg v. Detthow where petitioner is trying to remove custody restrictions that force a same-sex couple to live separately in order to maintain custody of their child. Companies are not required to offer benefits to same-sex couples and hospitals can still invoke their right to deny visitation rights to a patient’s partner. Additionally, within 14 states across our country there are still laws that do not classify violent crimes against a member of the GLBT community solely based on his/her gender identity or sexual orientation a hate crime. Were they to exist, it could create enough moral judgment to make a potential assailant to stop and think before committing a crime of hate. THERE’S PLENTY THAT IS STILL NOT ON THE BOOKS. Although I do not believe that Same-Sex marriage is the “saving grace” to all these currently insufficient laws, it would be a MAJOR step in the right direction and would only assist in the protection of all individuals’ civil rights and liberties.

Lastly, I’d like to say that it’s really easy for anyone to stereotype a group of people of whom you are not a member.  It’s no secret that conservatives stereotype liberals and members of the GLBT community, liberals and members of the GLBT community stereotype conservatives and Christians, Caucasians stereotype African-Americans, Asians, Jews, Hispanics, and Arabs; AND, the inverse also exists.  I think it’s important for EVERYONE to really take a step back and keep an open mind.  While all people are entitled to their opinion and under the First Amendment are able to voice that opinion, EVERYONE needs to keep an open mind and an open heart about a person, a group of people, or an issue of which they are less informed.

Several people have spoken about what is morally true or correct or about righteousness.  I’d like to leave them all with this thought: It is impossible for any human on this planet to have any semblance of an idea of what or who God is [Editor’s note: provided there is a “god,” as we acknowledge those with no faith, and others with no belief system in a god(s)] and what God’s message, if there is a message, to the human race. It is so easy to personify God and make God into something tangible, but one must remember that we as humans are incapable of ever understanding all that God is [if there is one at all]. While I believe that you (the ultra-conservative right wing) are completely entitled to your opinion that your religious faith and practice is inherently correct, you must understand the reasons why you believe that faith and practice as correct. Your faith and your practice are true to you because they are a facet of your ideological background. They are “true” to you. HOWEVER, you must take into consideration that what is “true” to you is not necessarily “true” to the person next to you, the person across the street, the person in a different country, or the person on the other side of this screen. They have a different truth based on their ideological system of beliefs and principles. To say that your “truth” is more “true” than anyone else’s is borderline presumptuous, because no one really knows what is really true and what isn’t true. TRUTH IS RELATIVE TO THE INDIVIDUAL, AND NO TWO PERSONS’ TRUTHS ARE INDENTICAL. Yet, that’s what makes this country so wonderful. You are entitled to voice what is true to you just as I am entitled to disagree. It’s part of our country’s principles of freedom of belief and freedom of worship. The same principle that so many people argue with: our first amendment rights to freedom of speech. I don’t deny that Miss California is entitled to her religious practices and beliefs. WE ALL ARE. Now, taking that into consideration, there are several religious faiths within our country that do not take an opposing stance to same-sex marriage. If we, as Americans, indoctrinate a federal ban on same-sex marriage, not only would that be a complete disservice to the words of Thomas Jefferson who wrote that we are all entitled to “unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness,” [Editor’s note: need we point out the hypocrisy of Jefferson whom himself owned and slept with slaves?], but we would also be creating a law that would completely contradict the very right many fundamentalist Christians argue when defending their religious beliefs and practices! [Editor’s note: we should point out that such a ban would NOT infringe, IN ANY WAY, upon the BELIEFS of fundamentalist Christians, merely that their sphere of influence in politics would be severely curtailed – which it should according to our Constitution. The ban would not dictate what you can and cannot believe, just what you can and cannot legally do to oppress someone else.] It would be an infringement on people’s right to religious practice and believe, as marriage is used as a sacrament in many religious faiths.  Not allowing someone to fulfill one of those sacraments, which is a facet to their religious beliefs and practices, is completely un-American. Is that something that we as Americans are truly prepared to do and/or be? [Editor’s note: as it was mulled over in the New Hampshre Senate, the Governor said he would allow for same-sex marriage, provided it did not force a Church that disavowed same-sex marriages/living from performing those services by edit of law, or through inaction, not allowing those to be served. In this way, their rights would not be infringed, and neither would those of a same-sex couple. The Senate consented to the clause, the Bill was signed, and it becomes law effective January 1, 2010. We happen to think that is a logical compromise, as ideally, there SHOULD be a separation of church and state, despite the obvious facts to the contrary.]

It is out sad news to report to all those struggling candidates out there, including ouselves, that the casting for Season 2 of Rupaul’s Drag Race is unoficially over for now. Yes, there’s still ONE more Queen destined for the slot from Online (whether they cheated or not…), but from what our little pink bird has informed us, the casting directors are EXHAUSTED and yes, there is such a thing as drag overload! Essentially, the top 40 girls have been selected from around the country. Of these 40, a split decision is made between RuPaul and the Producers/Casting Directors for the show. From there it gets whittled down a little bit more, and then the production will go into full swing with contracts sent out and airline tickets bought, schedules arranged, etc…So, my dears, if you haven’t been informed by a casting agent, or even spoken to one by now – save your breath and plan your online P.R. attack a whole year in advance like some other queens did…the flag is pretty much down for anyone not succeeding in the top 25 online right now.

Here is our review of the songs we were allowed to listen to in their entirety. Prey – the album’s opening tack, starts with primitive African beats and deep vocals that merge into an 80’s punk sound blended with that same era’s heavy use of synth. The song we were given was not a completed track, but the proper tracks can render it more identifiable, though, as a standalone musical piece, its experimental nature is in the same vein as Björk’s Medulla. Forever Together – opens with a playful vocal introduction (not unlike Janet Jacksons’ “interludes” between songs) amidst samba-synth, which moves into a love ballad reminiscent of popular 80’s African-American Top 40 stars like Lionel Richie & Stevie Wonder. This is the one track where some vocal polish could use some help, as the runs are either out of the singer’s capabilities, or were performed with too much timidity when initially recorded. This causes the music to become overpowered by the unbalanced vocals, but this has the potential to be a nicely crafted piece if worked on a bit more. For further radio “playability,” the vocal intro might just have to be dropped. Love-o-matic – is a fun, catchy, pop-tinged throwback to 60’s styled 3 or 4 part harmony girl groups. Only in this instance, JayBezz’s voice is harmonized with his own, with the defining vocal also filtered with some interesting techniques. The song has the feel of something that just might have been recorded by Diana Ross (with or without The Supremes), Michael Jackson and/or Lionel Richie, et al around the 80’s. It’s not difficult to see many other artists hesitating to want to record a song like this. No Regrets – is a darker, synth-y song that we received as a temp with no vocals – but sounds like a piece David Bowie, Pink Floyd, or E.L.O. might have played with during sessions of their own. A lonely digital guitar riff weeps through this song, which, if accompanied by an equally capable voice and lyrics, could prove to be an underground smash. Drops the Beat – is another funky 80’s throwback that is a song Lisa Lisa and the Cult Jam or Janet Jackson herself might have recorded during that time period. The mid-tempo beat is surely danceable, but in that fun, dirty, body-grinding kind of way. A dance remix with a faster BPM could elevate this to an easy Billboard Top 100 Dance Single. J--Be-z w/Sucio – this song rips off right at the start with thumping bass and brass – a fun and welcome experimental dance mix that is very successful. Again, the 80’s influence is very prevalent, but does not detract from what is a very modern sound. The 90’s sensibility of including a rap-riff, this one in “Spanglish” (Sucio means “dirty” in Spanish) to a Bomba type beat, has a not-unwelcome place in the song. The terms collective, cooperative, and dispensary are thrown around and seen as interchangeable by the public at large and much of the medical marijuana community. They all provide a means for patients to safely acquire marijuana.

The attorney general’s 2008 medical marijuana guidelines define the differences.

Statutory cooperative: “Must file articles of incorporation with the state and conduct its business for the mutual benefit of its members… and act as nonprofit corporate entities.”

Collective: “Should be an organization [not an incorporated business] that merely facilitates the collaborative efforts of patient and caregiver members including the allocation of costs and revenues.”

Dispensary: A storefront business that sells marijuana to qualified patients. These are not recognized by the attorney general guidelines and are considered illegal by the District Attorney’s office.

Fucked AGAIN.

Today each and every Californian - - LGBT and non-LGBT – awoke to a profoundly shocking ruling from the California State Supreme Court. Today the Supreme Court in this great state told the 70,000+ California children raised in loving same-sex households that their families are not equal and their parents will not be allowed to marry in the state of California. They ruled that it is permissible for “the people” to vote to take away the rights of others, for neighbors to strip their neighbors of their right to marry.

The Court has permitted a slim 4% of voters to eviscerate the equality provision of our state constitution and to deprive an entire class of Californians of the fundamental freedom to marry. While we all breathed a collective sigh of relief that the Court did not force the divorce of 18,000 married Californians and cause deep disruption to those families; our hearts break for the tens of thousands of others who today learned that in California they have lost their fundamental right to equal treatment under the law.

Many ask - why is California different than Iowa or Vermont or Maine? In those states the legislature or the State Supreme court ruled for equality, but so did California? Yes, the California legislature TWICE passed a marriage equality bill and the California Supreme Court already ruled that to deny the right to marry was unconstitutional.

But in California there was yet another twist. In California a group devised a strategy to circumvent the legislature and dis-empower the courts. They spent millions to call for a “vote of the people” to strip away fundamental rights already recognized by the courts and force a vote by our neighbors on our basic equality! Can you imagine the outraged screaming if any other group faced such a vote, say perhaps a vote on whether Baptists should be stripped of the right to marry? Unconscionable and unthinkable. But it happened in California and the California Supreme Court today held that such a vote is constitutional.

But today’s ruling will not be the end of this story nor this journey for justice.

Public opinion continues to move in the direction of fairness and equality, in California and all over the nation. Not only have vital lessons for all of America been learned from this civil rights loss, but tens of thousands have responded with new energy, new coalitions, new leadership joining renewed commitment from those who have fought so hard for so long.

From Facebook and Twitter, to the news waves and wires, all mediums have been full of different images and a different story than ever before: images of thousands of loving, committed couples and families who want only the freedom to be equal … and to marry. Those images and stories are told anew every day and every day another Californian and another American joins us in this struggle. A newly formed, newly energized national coalition movement for equality will see this battle through to a victory in California.

Every day it becomes clearer and clearer to all Americans that this struggle is not about denying anyone or any religion the right to marry (or not marry) whomever they wish in their own churches and temples.

It is instead a struggle for the simple right to legally and civilly marry the ones we have spent a lifetime loving, protecting, and providing for; a struggle to respect all couples and all families. A struggle to preserve that uniquely American principle: equal treatment under the law.

A struggle we will win.

March in protest tonight 5pm at Sixth Avenue and Laurel: In San Diego, supporters of marriage equality will gather to protest the Supreme Court ruling at 5pm today at Sixth Avenue and Laurel in Balboa Park, with a march south down Sixth Avenue to Broadway, then west to the Hall of Justice.

As I read the news about the recent advances of marriage equality across our country, I think it is easy for many to get distracted by the politics and rhetoric on this issue and lose sight of what is really at its heart: the equality of freedom.

No matter how politically charged the discussions about marriage equality may get, the question is really a simple one: Do the rights and privileges we offer citizens include everyone in our country, or only some of us?

I believe that allowing gays and lesbians the freedom to marry is an idea whose time has come. Though my opinion is no doubt influenced by my family’s public role in political life, I still approach this from personal experience, as I think most people do. For me, this is about treating all of my friends, and all of our brothers, sisters, children and grandchildren the same as I want to be treated. Equality under the law and personal freedoms are what make America the greatest country in the world, and they are core values that I hold as a Republican.

As I recently wrote after speaking at the Log Cabin Republican convention: “People may always have a difference of opinion . . . but championing a position that wants to treat people unequally isn’t just un-Republican. At its fundamental core, it’s un-American.” I believe most Americans want our nation to succeed. Marriage equality moves us to a place where more of us can do a better job of taking care of our families.

Gays and lesbians are a vital part of our communities. They are doctors, teachers, firefighters, emergency personnel and neighbors. In this way, marriage equality is also about supporting good citizens and strengthening our communities. When a committed gay couple seeks to declare their love for one another and get married, the whole community benefits from the added stability and strength of that family. On top of that, we don’t give up anything by sharing responsibilities and protections with those whom we love.

That’s why I support marriage equality. It is the best and fairest way to grant gay and lesbian neighbors and family members the protections and responsibilities that they need to provide for their family and give back to their community.

As Republicans, we understand the importance of strong communities. Last week, the New York Assembly passed the marriage bill with the support of five Republican Assembly members. Now, the bill goes before the state Senate, where Republican senators will make the difference on whether the bill becomes law or dies. Once again, New York has the opportunity to make a statement about Republican values and fairness by passing the marriage bill.

I believe marriage equality will soon come to New York. My hope is that Republican senators will offer their support and make the difference to pass the marriage bill.

By voting for the marriage bill, they will make a strong statement about supporting New York families, strengthening New York communities and demonstrating that equality and fairness are fundamental values of New York Republicans. It will leave a legacy that will make us all proud.

Their summarized arguments are as follows (thanks to Gather.com):

1. The refusal of California and other states and the federal government to recognize a lawful, same sex marriage results in denial of thousands of rights, protections, and responsibilities that are automatically bestowed on opposite sex couples.

2. The denial of full recognition of same sex marriage in other states denies same sex couples the right to travel and establish residency in other states.

3. DOMA is gender specific and denies recognition of a legal same sex marriage on a federal level.

4. DOMA provides that states do not need to recognize a lawful same sex marriage from another state, therefore restricting rights to same sex couples to specific jurisdictions in contrast to opposite sex couples which have no similiar hindrances.

Being sandwiched between Canada and Mexico, both of which are AHEAD of Uruguay in this progressive action, the USA looks sadly more and more like a backwards country…

The gay marriage debate in New Hampshire has been filled with passion and emotion on all sides. My personal views on the subject of marriage have been shaped by my own experience, tradition and upbringing. But as Governor of New Hampshire, I recognize that I have a responsibility to consider this issue through a broader lens.

In the past weeks and months, I have spoken with lawmakers, religious leaders and citizens. My office has received thousands of phone calls, letters and emails. I have studied our current marriage and civil union laws, the laws of other states, the bills recently passed by the legislature and our history and traditions.

Two years ago, we passed civil unions legislation here in New Hampshire. That law gave same-sex couples in civil unions the same rights and protections as marriage. And in typical New Hampshire fashion, the people of this state embraced civil unions and agreed we needed to continue our tradition of opposing discrimination.

At its core, HB 436 simply changes the term ‘civil union’ to ‘civil marriage.’ Given the cultural, historical and religious significance of the word marriage, this is a meaningful change.

I have heard, and I understand, the very real feelings of same-sex couples that a separate system is not an equal system. That a civil law that differentiates between their committed relationships and those of heterosexual couples undermines both their dignity and the legitimacy of their families.

I have also heard, and I understand, the concerns of our citizens who have equally deep feelings and genuine religious beliefs about marriage. They fear that this legislation would interfere with the ability of religious groups to freely practice their faiths.

Throughout history, our society’s views of civil rights have constantly evolved and expanded. New Hampshire’s great tradition has always been to come down on the side of individual liberties and protections.

That is what I believe we must do today.

But following that tradition means we must act to protect both the liberty of same-sex couples and religious liberty. In their current form, I do not believe these bills accomplish those goals. The Legislature took an important step by clearly differentiating between civil and religious marriage, and protecting religious groups from having to participate in marriage ceremonies that violate their fundamental religious beliefs. “But the role of marriage in many faiths extends beyond the actual marriage ceremony.

I have examined the laws of other states, including Vermont and Connecticut, which have recently passed same-sex marriage laws. Both go further in protecting religious institutions than the current New Hampshire legislation.

This morning, I met with House and Senate leaders, and the sponsors of this legislation, and gave them language that will provide additional protections to religious institutions.

This new language will provide the strongest and clearest protections for religious institutions and associations, and for the individuals working with such institutions. It will make clear that they cannot be forced to act in ways that violate their deeply held religious principles.

If the legislature passes this language, I will sign the same-sex marriage bill into law. If the legislature doesn’t pass these provisions, I will veto it. We can and must treat both same-sex couples and people of certain religious traditions with respect and dignity.

I believe this proposed language will accomplish both of these goals and I urge the legislature to pass it.

Now, here comes yet another stab at “Americanizing” Absolutely Fabulous! Only this time, there might just be hope: writer, director, star of the show, Jennifer Saunders, is producing the new American version. William Burrows, director of Cheers!, Taxi, Friends, and Will & Grace is directing. Kathryn Hahn is “Edina,” and former Third Rock from the Sun alum, Kristen johnson, takes on “Patsy” (who doesn’t smoke in this version!).

This was supposed to be on Fox, but they’ve been shaky about it, and passed - so don’t be surprised if it’s a “some-what” hit somewhere else and it gets passed to another studio that willl probably slightly revamp it, and give it a second chance (or third) on their network. Or, they might just kill it altogether, in which case - we wanna’ see the pilot online soon.

What we wanna’ know is, if Saunders is going to remake her timeless show, why go to the American networks? Ricky Gervais, creator of the original The Office on the BBC, and Little Britain’s writer/performers - Matt Lucas & David Williams, were all able to transfer brilliantly to…HBO. Give us Cybill Shepherd as Patsy Stone and Lisa Kudrow (?, hmm, maybe…) as Edina Monsoon and do it balls to the wall, no strings attached, and uncensored - THAT would be something to watch.

We’ll still tune in (if it ever airs) and give this baby a chance, even though the actresses look nothing like their characters were (age, wardrobe, hair, makeup, props, etc…).

I just wanted to send a quick note reminding everyone that the California Supreme court could rule on the validity of Prop 8 any day now. It will be a Monday or a Thursday. At this point my best guess is that it will come down on the 21st or the 28th, but I never bet on the courts.

This new film, The Princess & The Frog, has been gestating for quite some time, as it languished during this on-off period. Thankfully, it is the first of a new era of 2D films from Disney. The next scheduled release is: Rapunzel, Unbraided.

Update in the comments section: We should perhaps clear up what we mean when we say “3D.” There is 2D animation - the physical creation process - (done by hand), and 3D animation done in a computer. The latter can be made to appear like hand-drawn animation, but it’s not very consistent, and it lacks the “soul” of an individual artist. It can also be difficult to match the style done by freehand with a computer. Even in the newer “2D” films there is “3D” animation. It’s usually saved for tedious or complex items, which are often done in a computer to enhance, but not overtake the production; i.e: the lava & confetti in Aladdin, or multiplying the number of creatures in The Lion King, etc.

There is also the WAY the film is projected, which is 2D (flat), or 3D - where one wears lenticular (blue-red) glasses, polarized (for left/right eye), and “shutter” glasses (like the IMAX ones) where the left and right eye of the glasses turn opaque and transparent about 48 times per second (24 frames per second for each eye) to give one the illusion of depth on a flat surface. Disney is retooling some of its biggest, blockbuster, animated features into 3D projection with the help of new techniques - much like turning black and white films into color. Among those to be retooled and re-released (for $$) is Beauty and the Beast.

Rapunzel will be a 3D projection release, though the animation in it (for the most part), was done by hand. Supervised by the legendary artist Glen Keane, it was ultimately taken from him by John Lasseter (who above all things, has the “story” come first), because Keane could not seem to get the story “right” despite 5 years of toil on the project. Friends for over 20 years, that could not have been easy, but Keane can perhaps take solace in the praise by fellow animators, that it is perhaps the most beautifully produced Disney Feature Animation ever made. We’ll know in 2010.

When they can’t agree on how to worship the same “god.”), which is at the heart of most American culture. Therein lies the root of that divisiveness.

Fans and fellow entrants into RuPaul’s Drag Race Season 2 casting!

We made this short video when we recognized certain drag queens, who shall remain nameless (but you bitches KNOW who you are…), appeared in the top 5 practically OVERNIGHT from the MOMENT the website opened with THOUSANDS of votes - and pretty much stayed there. We just knew that wasn’t possible, especially since some of the queens on there…well…we won’t say anything negative…we know! Us!?

Anyway, even though we’ve entered ourselves, we thought we would level the playing field for EVERYONE. We think it’s quite unfair that a queen who might have some more technological know-how over another, especially one who over-Photoshop’s their face/body into plastic and a shape they could NEVER replicate on the show, get a chance to be on it. Or puts their face on someone else’s…

Some might argue that that is part of the game. We disagree, and we’ll tell you why: This is not a geek/nerd/IT contest. This is a DRAG contest. By all means, take every advantage of the makeup/transformation/performance skills you have to present yourself - BUT ONLY as you actually ARE, LIVE, IN PERSON. Don’t trample on other queens, and their dreams, with fake votes out of your own desperation to get on T.V. - in the hope that you MIGHT become famous. The stench of it comes across, even through the computer monitor.

We do not show you 100% how to do the hack, as that would be irresponsible of us. If we did, queens would just do the same thing all over the U.S.A., and it would then be all about who could frantically click the most (or develop a little program to automate it — which, we’re pretty certain someone has already done). Besides, the online website rules say VERY CLEARLY that if it’s discovered you are hacking, they have the right to suspend THE ENTIRE ONLINE CASTING FOR EVERYONE - not just the persons whom have been hacking.

In case you were wondering, we have let the casting directors know about all this…you just might get onto the show if you cheat, but don’t think for a moment that once you get on there that they’re going to make it easy for you!

Anyway, we hope you enjoy the video, and humbly request that you vote for our HONEST troupe members, whom could have easily exploited this technique to their advantage, but chose honesty and dignity as the best course of action. We truly believe in Ru’s motto: MAY THE BEST WOMAN WIN! and

Obviously we know of the existence of IP simulators that allow people to cheat on sites like this, and we try to pay very close attention and have a 99% success rate of weeding those cheaters out. Please be fair and realize that some people simply do have a fan following and CAN get 800 people to vote for them in a day.

That being said, if you’re going to call people out for cheating, why blur their faces? That’s kind of weak. Call them out by name if you’re going to call them out at all, and better yet, bring them to the attention of the administrators of the casting website so it can be investigated. That’s going to do a lot more good than some silly video clip.

Yes, you’re absolutely right, some people can and do deserve the high numbers of votes by their fans. What we happen to be disillusioned with, is that if you know who is using an IP simulator, why allow them to move up the chain? Have your machines simply re-tally the votes per the number of hits that can actually be verified - and we’re certain that behavior will end for the most part. Otherwise, so many other talented/up-and-coming queens get a distorted perception of what’s actually transpiring in the contest. Many people simply do not comprehend the concept of an IP Anonymizer, so the “silly little video” was made to illustrate that concept for them. It’s visual proof for them that they’re not crazy to think people are cheating.

When we feel passionate about something, we call the act/people out by name - it’s what we do. We’ve even done that with you, despite our profound respect and admiration for everything you have done.

We know your guys have the IT muscle to pierce the veil.

The Governator had a life-cast mold from the first & second films that were utilized to sculpt maquettes for dummies, and to create endoskeletons that matched his height and width in those films. The molds are a perfect copy of his features and physique. From those molds, taken by the late genius Stan Winston, they were scanned by laser, and photo samples from Arnold (when he was younger) were mapped onto the now digital stunt double. Mind you, they did a LOT of de-aging effects in T3 as well. Seeing as how he is now digital, he can simply voice his performance and appear as his younger self and T-800 version. There is a moment in the film where a character stumbles upon SkyNet’s newer models, as in this fourth movie, SkyNet has not quite yet perfected skin tissue. So, you will see Arnold in the film, even though he never was on set, or shot a single frame of film as he was too busy running the state of California. However, he is on the record saying he would not rule out appearing in the fifth film, should the script warrant it.

To give you an idea of how popular the HALO game is, the trilogy has sold over 25 million copies, and when the third one was released, it grossed over $170M in 24 hours.

District 9 is not HALO, nor is it just about immigrant aliens, as in the sci-fi category. It’s a “proof of concept,” and it will blow your mind away. I bet the studios are kicking themselves in the ass…they could have had HALO ready for this summer…if it could look even remotely like this amazing fake documentary - it would have certainly been badass.

P.S. - rumor has it that this season actually takes place “Real-World” style inside a “house.” So, instead of being separated all the time, now the girls will have to live with each other. Which would also make for a longer season. A normal TV season is 22-24 episodes. The first season of Drag Race was only 8 episodes. This would give them a lot more material for a longer season, which means more advertising money in Logo’s/Ru’s pockets and more dragtastic entertainment for us! We could be wrong, but, that’s the last we heard through the gayvine…

There is no doubt that Obama had a groundswell of support from the GLBT community. His campaign promises were too good to be true, but compared to the alternative, we took what we got.

Now, the White House website has had a revamp since the sweeping overhaul that took place when he took the oath of office.

While we applaud him for accomplishing a great number of issues in his first 100 days in office, with regard to GLBT matters, we guess we’ve been pushed back into the closet.

About 2/3 of the “Civil Rights” page is now GONE.

We know there’s a lot to tackle, so we’re willing to sit back for now as we await the portentous California Supreme Court ruling on gay marriage - as it is only a month away for their deadline to come to a decision.

After that, it could get ugly…really ugly.

The House or Representatives passed it on 4/29/09 by a vote of 249-175.

Rep. Barbara Lee: This bill is long overdue.” She is also a member of the LGBT caucus. She mentions specifically the disproportionate hate by the African-American community to gay men of their very ethnicity, as well as the horrific death of transgendered woman Gwen Araujo.Two of her FOUR attackers got away with only voluntary manslaughter, the other two, only second-degree murder, using a trans-panic defense (similar to the “gay-panic defense” used in the Matthew Shepard trial, which is what this bill aims to prevent, among others).

Opponents of the measure are saying that a violent crime is a hate crime, and that this bill is superfluous because laws are already in place to punish people who commit violent crime. We disagree, of course, for example: someone robs you in your home and shoots you for fear of being identified. That’s not about hate. A man who beats his kids, need not be about hate, but alcohol/drug abuse. What about rape? The list is quite extensive, so you see why such a bill is necessary?

Hate crimes are done specifically with the intent to do harm because of bigotry arising from: religion, race, gender, gender-identity, and/or sexual orientation, etc. Again, opponents say this is an attempt at policing “thought crimes.” However, policing a “thought-crime” would be done BEFORE the violent act was committed - seeing as how we are not a society of telepaths, this argument is a joke. Prosecution of a hate crime comes AFTER someone was victimized for being part of a grouping of people that the perpetrator(s) did not like.

Perhaps the best soundbite by Rep. Holt: This is no more about criminalizing thought than the anti-lynching laws were about criminalizing knot-tying.”

It’s worth the 90 seconds of your time.

Rep. Virginia Fox of North Carolina (are we honestly surprised?) claims the Hate Crimes Bil, a.k.a. the Matthew Shepard Bill, is named after a “hoax.” She claims that Matt’s death was only a robbery, and not a hate crime.

Ms. Fox, respectfully, you are a fucking bigoted moron.

Should anyone care to personally express their outrage to Rep. Fox, here is the link to her Congressional email box. Please flood it with educational material. For starters, the police report for Matthew Shepard’s death.

As the USA tries desperately to catch up to the rest of the sane, civilized, and progressive world of the 21st century in terms of, well, just about everything, thank goodness there are some rays of light that are working for our equality and protection under the law in Congress. Mr. Frank is no saint and he’s not perfect (Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac are examples…), but he has obviously become bolder with age and his successive years representing Massachusetts that leverage him on this issue; that and the fact that he has been openly gay for many years.

For all you transgendered individuals, whether you were following this or not, Mr. Frank DOES support including you in E.N.D.A. - the Employee Non-Discrimination Act - he mentions you in this brief 5 minute address. It’s just that when E.N.D.A. first came up, the Republicans and Satan the Bush/Cheney Administration were in office, and including transsexuals in E.N.D.A as Mr. Frank warned, would kill the bill on the floor - and it did. His advice was “measured” steps for inclusion of all in E.N.D.A. If it had been passed, THEN they could have transsexuals to it later with a lot less heat. Given his tenure on the Hill, and his understanding of its absurd machinations, it’s perhaps sage to ponder his advice. Madame Secretary of State, Mrs. Clinton has also expressed her passion for the passage of E.N.D.A. At this point, with the defection of Republican Arlen Specter to the Democratic party, and the (still!) contested recount of the state of Minnesota and Democrat Al Franken, the Democratic Party could have a filibuster-proof majority and Presidential Veto Override before the summer is through.

Watch as Representative Frank pretty much <em><strong>slays</strong></em> the entire fucking argument against the Hate Crimes Bill in 5 minutes. “We don’t need…or want…your approval.” Fucking work.

By the way, the Chair of the House Judiciary Committee you see briefly granting Frank another minute of time, is Rep. (D) <a title=”Conyers” href=”http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Conyers” target=”_blank”><strong>John Conyers</strong></a> of Michigan, who dogged BushCo. for years. The Bush Administration treated him with such contempt and indignity, he literally held hearings against the administration in the BASEMENT of Congress - because he could not get hearings on the Congressional Floor; blocked by, who else(?), the Republican Party. We have HIM to thank for at least ATTEMPTING to <strong>impeach Bush</strong> and his cronies, and bringing their myriad illegal schemes (lying about intel in Iraq, torture, the Valerie Plame scandal, etc…) to public light and not ever letting go. That’s why our new President is considering prosececuting those who gave illegal orders during the Bush Administration. Legal Karma is coming your way, you sick, twisted fucks, and this guy has the dirt with your thumbprints on it now that he’s not blocked at every turn.

I’m sure some of you have already noticed a big change to the RuPaul Casting… no more voting. LOGO requested that we drop the voting from the site since they do similar voting castings on their own site and didn’t want to confuse anyone.

So here’s what we’re doing…

- We removed the voting from the casting (now you’ll see 40 random members instead of just the Top voted on people) - We’ve submitted all of our current members in the order that they were in at the start of the day. That way all the work you did to get votes wasn’t in vain. - We’ll also be submitting everyone at the end over to the Casting Directors just so that anyone that signs up over the next 2 weeks also gets reviewed.

We should add that we have been listening to the album the last 2-3 days and it’s not half-bad. It’s very modern with voice-synth/Ru-bot singing, and even RuPaul rapping - yes, rapping - but it works. You’ll just have to hear it…the album spans disco to ballads and anthems, a bit all-over, it’s not homogeneous or “concept” in any way. It’s just pure, sugary-pop confection music, would you really want to expect anything else from RuPaul?

Gotta’ love the 80’s retro sunglasses (yes, the 80’s are back…memo to the fags under a rock…), though we think Detox wore it better (we gotta’ give her her props for her few seconds in Rihanna’s Disturbia video)…just check out her MySpace.

Personally, we believe that George W. Bush and Richard Cheney deserve a fair and VERY PUBLIC trial.

ENDORSEMENTS, ANYONE?

Listening to it, it’s difficult as an outside observer to not correlate some of the songs’ sentiments related to her tragic car accident in 2006 that killed the other driver and pulled her into a lengthy wrongful-death lawsuit, for which she was acquitted.

The album is honest, earnest, heartfelt, and as always - fantastic vocals that are not designed in a studio - but measured with control and not done as an exercise in vocal acrobatic runs for show. If you were born after the early 90’s, it’s hard to explain how she was literally everywhere. The girl had hit after hit, and this album is just as strong as any of her earlier works, provided that’s the kind of music you are into!

While the merger of Pfizer and GlaxoSmithKline is nothing BUT profit-driven and stop-loss, it holds some newfound hope.

Why?

Big Pharma Companies, like fast-food chains, guard the “secret” ingredient/chemical combinations and methodologies of their foods/meds to a higher lever of security than perhaps that of their very own family…

Now that is changing, and the two aforementioned companies are merging their HIV/AIDS reserach labs to cut costs, share research information and resources.

Two “brains” are usually better than one. Might this merger yield the blockbuster changes in treatment we’ve so longed for, or perhaps even a vaccine or cure?
